A knifeman who fatally stabbed a mother in front of her three-year-old daughter at Notting Hill Carnival was jailed for at least 29 years. Shakeil Thibou, 20, inflicted fatal abdominal injuries on Cher Maximen, 32, after she was caught up in a fight involving multiple men. She died in hospital from her injuries six days after the attack on 25 August 2024. Thibou was convicted of her murder following a trial at the Old Bailey. Judge Philip Katz KC sentenced him to detention for life in a young offender institution and told him he would serve at least 29 years before he can be considered for release. The judge said: "The police were totally outnumbered as the violence spun out of control. Just watching the bodyworn footage was terrifying. "When violence broke out, you were quick to move to join in. You were so fired up that you didn't hesitate to use your knife. You were so brazen that it was carried out in front of police officers."
